The Cox Plate leaves the Valley for Flemington
The $6 million weight-for-age championship is run at Flemington on 24 October while Moonee Valley is rebuilt.

For the first time the Cox Plate will not be run at Moonee Valley, which closed in November 2025 for a redevelopment of at least 21 months. The race moves to Flemington, over 2040 metres, for $6 million.
It drew 103 nominations, 15 from overseas, among them runners from Aidan O’Brien and Yoshito Yahagi. Chris Waller nominated 27.
James McDonald is chasing a fifth straight Cox Plate after Anamoe, Romantic Warrior and two wins on Via Sistina.
