The Kimberley by sea: choosing a ship for the wild coast
Small expedition boats or larger luxury ships, from late March to September.

The Kimberley coast can be reached properly only by water, and the cruise season runs from late March to September. Itineraries range from 5 to 17 nights, mostly between Broome, Darwin, Kununurra and Wyndham.
The smallest ships get closest. True North takes 36 guests and True North II just 20, while the Paspaley Pearl carries 30 and adds visits to pearl farms. At the larger end, Ponant’s Le Jacques-Cartier and Le Soléal, Seabourn Pursuit and Silversea’s Silver Cloud carry between 184 and 264 guests with the full luxury-ship program.
The sights are the same whichever you choose: King George Falls, Mitchell Falls, Cascade Falls on the Prince Regent River, and Montgomery Reef rising from the tide.
Timing is a trade-off. March and April bring the most dramatic waterfalls, and the most humidity.
