Short, Forrester, Pallister, Davies: the golden names of Glasgow
Four athletes who will shape the road to Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032.

Samuel Short. The distance freestyler won the 400m, 800m and 1500m in Glasgow, a sweep of three races that need three different kinds of pacing. It confirmed him as the country’s leading middle- and long-distance swimmer.
Jenna Forrester. She won the 200m backstroke, the 200m individual medley and the 400m individual medley: three golds across two disciplines, the kind of range that makes an athlete valuable in a relay-heavy program.
Lani Pallister. She won the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle and added a fourth gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay, the defining distance campaign on the women’s side.
Rose Davies. On the track she completed the 5000m and 10,000m double, two of Australia’s 12 athletics golds at the Games.
All four are young enough to be on the next two Olympic teams. Brisbane 2032 is still six years away.
