From the velodrome to the bowls green: Glasgow’s quieter triumphs
Leigh Hoffman’s sprint double, a record-breaking 76-year-old and gold in 3x3 basketball.

Big pool nights make the headlines, but some of Australia’s best Glasgow stories happened elsewhere.
In the velodrome, Leigh Hoffman won the men’s sprint and the 1km time trial. Track cycling added 10 gold medals to the national tally, including the women’s team pursuit and Georgia Baker’s scratch race.
In para bowls, Louise Hoskins and Serena Bonnell won the women’s pairs B6–B8, and at 76 Hoskins became the oldest gold medallist in the history of the Games.
In 3x3 basketball, Australia won the women’s tournament and the men’s wheelchair event. In the ring, Jye Dixon (55kg) and Emma-Sue Greentree (75kg) won gold, and Eileen Cikamatana won the women’s 86kg in weightlifting.
