$212.8 million on the Gold Coast: Magic Millions’ record-setting January
Two $2 million colts, two $3 million races and a royal visit at the carnival that opens Australia’s bloodstock year.

Buyers spent $212.8 million at the 2026 Magic Millions yearling sales on the Gold Coast, with 932 lots sold at an average of $228,407. Two colts made the top price of $2 million: one by Extreme Choice and one by the English champion sire Frankel.
On the track, jockey Thomas Stockdale won the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Unit Five, and Torque To Be Sure took the $3 million Guineas.
The carnival is as much social as commercial: the Gold Raceday, the Pacific Fair Polo & Showjumping, the barrier draw and TAB Magic Millions Raceday. Zara and Mike Tindall, involved with Magic Millions for more than a decade, were again on the Gold Coast.
Managing director Barry Bowditch called it the most incredible carnival.
